For a discrete group we define a triangulated category of equivariant motives. The ingredients for this construction are the triangulated category of (non equivariant) motives of Voevodsky and the definition of equivariant Borel cohomology in topology. We explain how the problem of resolution of unbounded complexes occurs and can be solved. Furthermore we compare our result with other equivariant theories.
