Abstract: This is joint work with Dan Dugger. Segal proved that the realization of the Cech complex of an open cover of a space X recovers the homotopy type of X. I'll show how to generalize this result to open hypercovers. I'll also describe some connections to simplicial presheaves and A^1-homotopy theory.Date: Tuesday, January 29, 2002
