Abstract:

I will describe some very recent results on the ergodic theory of the stochastically forced Navier-Stokes equation under extremely degenerate forcing. I will give essentially sharp conditions which guarantee a unique invariant measure. I will explain how to use tool from Malliavin Calculus to prove that the randomness moves through out the whole system. The proof of ergodicity will make use of a generalization of the idea of Strong Feller called Asymptotic Strong Feller.
