Topology Seminar

Title: Vanishing in string topology
Speaker: Professor Craig Westerland
Speaker Info: Wisconsin
Brief Description:
Special Note:

String topology produces algebraic operations on the homology of free loop spaces; recent work of Godin and Chataur-Menichi have shown that these operations are parameterized by the homology of moduli spaces of curves. Tamanoi has shown that many degree 0, positive genus operations vanish in string topology. In this talk we seek to extend and explain these results by way of a factorization of these operations through something like a moduli space of graphs. This is a report on work in progress with Nathalie Wahl.
