Title: Growth Properties of Fourier Transforms; Classical and Recent Results
Speaker: William O. Bray
Speaker Info: University of Maine
Brief Description:
Special Note: Prof. Bray wil be visiting NU for the entire week of Oct 5-9.
Abstract:

Abstract: The theme that the behavior of a function influences the behavior of its Fourier transform lies at the heart of harmonic analysis. This talk will give a brief survey of classical and recent results in this vein followed by new results relating the growth of Fourier transforms to the behavior of spherical means in the setting of Euclidean space and Riemannian symmetric spaces of non-compact type.
