Abstract:

Abstract: Contrary to a widely spread belief continuous Lyaponuv functions cannot be easily smoothed by approximation to smooth Lyapunov functions. We will discuss a few example. We will also see how a weak KAM type of formalism yields to view the chain-reccurent set and the Auslander set (called ussually the gerneralized reccurrent set) as analogues of the Ma\~n\'e and Aubry sets of Lagrangian systems.

This is a work in progress with Ettore Minguzzi and Pierre Pageault.
