The main reference paper for this talk will be: Xia, Zhihong: Hyperbolic invariant sets with positive measures. Discrete Contin. Dyn. Syst. 15 (2006), no. 3, 811--818.

In this paper Xia defined stable and unstable density basis using stable and unstable manifolds. He also gave a direct proof of ergodicity of C^{1+\alpha} volume preserving Anosov diffeomorphism without using Hopf arguments.
