We discuss the phenomenon of diffraction for the fundamental solution of the wave equation on cones and with inverse square potentials. First we establish the presence of an explcit diffractive front for the fundamental solution of the wave equation in such cone-type settings in Euclidean space by finding an explicit integral expression for the fundamental solution. We discuss the methods of Friedlander as well as Cheeger and Taylor. Then we discuss an analogous theorem under a more generic scenario using micro-local commutator estimates following the methods of Melrose Vasy and Wunsch.
