Abstract:

The goal of this talk is to demonstrate how motivic homotopy theory over C gives new information about classical stable homotopy theory. After a brief introduction about motivic homotopy theory, I will use motivic versions of the May spectral sequence and the Adams spectral sequence to compute the 2-complete motivic stable homotopy groups over C up to the 52-stem. Then I will show how knowledge of motivic stable homotopy groups over C allows one to completely reconstruct the *classical* Adams-Novikov spectral sequence in the same range, including all differentials and hidden extensions.
