Abstract:

Morse theory is one of the most important tools to understand the topology of manifolds. In my talk, I will give the definitions of Morse homology and orbifold, mainly by examples, and will explain how to generalize Morse theory to orbifolds. We are going to see that there are several interesting features of orbifolds which should be considered carefully to construct correct Morse homology for orbifolds. I'd like to briefly sketch the idea behind it rather than details.
