Title: Bounded rational points on curves

Abstract:

We will discuss the following basic question: how many rational points of height less than N can an algebraic curve have? I will present a sharp asymptotic answer to this question that is uniform over all curves of a given degree, as well as related estimates for arbitrary varieties. I hope to explain the ideas behind the proof of these results, and how they connect with the distribution of sets in residue classes and the "polynomial method".
