Abstract:

This will be a panel discussion. We hope you come with some of your own questions; hopefully after the panel questions like the following will get cleared up:

How do I apply for jobs? where do I start? Who should I ask for letters of recommendation? How to write (good) research and teaching statements? (How long should they be? how much detail should I go into? etc. ) what do members of hiring committees usually look for? How many schools/programs should I apply to? Do I need to reach out to any faculty member of the program I'm applying to?

If you already have some questions on your mind before Friday, and you'd like to have a somewhat involved or thorough answer, please don't hesitate to email the panelists beforehand so that they can be better prepared to answer.

This should be directly informative and helpful for all 5th and 6th-years, though I think it should be really valuable for all students.

The host of the panel is Zili Huang.
