Abstract:

In quantum mechanics, eigenfunctions describe stationary solutions for the associated dynamical system, which is governed by the Schrödinger equation. For example, roughly speaking, an electron excited up to a particular energy level, which "orbits" around the nucleus of an atom, can be found with high probability in those regions where the related eigenstate is large.

In this talk I will show some asymptotic geometrical properties of probability measures associated with eigenfunctions of the quantum harmonic oscillator. Depending on the arithmetic relations between frequencies of the oscillator, we will discuss stability of these properties under perturbations. Joint work with Fabricio Macià.
