Abstract:

The classical Mean Ergodic Theorem has been extended during recent years to more and more general situations, culminating with the "Polynomial multiple Ergodic Theorem with several transformations" of Walsh (2012). Here we consider ergodic and multiple ergodic averages with a weight, or when the averages are taken along a subset of the integers. A bounded sequence is "a good weight" if all such weighted ergodic averages converge. We give sufficient properties that are not too far from being necessary, and give examples.
