In a physical system, waves travel (mostly) along geodesics. If the geodesic flow spreads out everywhere evenly, we expect waves to spread out evenly everywhere as well. This idea is called quantum ergodicity, but has a much more subtle probabilistic aspect. In this talk, we will show that for flat triangles a weak form of exact quantum ergodicity of the Neumann data on the boundary holds unconditionally, and moreover the proof of this uses only integrations by parts and a variational argument.
