I will explain two closely related projects. In joint work with Thomas Nikolaus, we introduce the cyclotomic t-structure and show how it relates cyclotomic spectra and Cartier modules. In joint work with Daniel Bragg, we use the cyclotomic t-structure to show how p-divisible groups (or more precisely the associated Dieudonné modules) appear as cyclotomic homotopy groups and how to get new information about derived equivalence in positive characteristic.
