Abstract:
Veering triangulations were introduced (following ideas of Hamenstadt) to understand pseudo-Anosov maps of surfaces, and act as a kind of periodic continued fraction expansion for such maps. More generally, we will discuss a relation between veering triangulations and pseudo-Anosov flows satisfying a technical condition, giving a 1-1 correspondence between them (proved previously by Schleimer-Segerman).
