Abstract:

The notion of a prism was introduced by Bhargav Bhatt and Peter Scholze as a means to attach a ringed site to a p-adic formal scheme. The resulting cohomology theory plays a central role in recent developments within p-adic Hodge theory and has striking connections to p-adic K-theory. In this talk, I will discuss an approach to defining prisms (relative to a fixed base prism) in the derived category of a ring. The resulting theory of “derived prisms” allows one to characterize relative prismatic cohomology via a simple universal property.
