Categorical spectra are common generalizations of spectra and symmetric monoidal $(\infty, \infty)$-categories. I will illustrate their importance by drawing examples from functorial quantum field theories and noncommutative algebraic geometry. I will also explain the subtlety and the key ingredient in defining the tensor product of categorical spectra, then its localization to categorical spectra with duals and its applications.Date: Monday, November 13, 2023
