Title: Intersection theory on arithmetic surfaces and metrics with L^2_1 regularity
Speaker: Jean-Benoît Bost
Speaker Info: Université de Paris-Sud
Brief Description:
Special Note: Bost will give a seminar at Northwestern on November 3.
Abstract:

We present an extension of Arakelov intersection theory on arithmetic surfaces which involves Green functions with weaker regularity than the usual theory, namely we require them to belong to the Sobolev space L^2_1. The talk will be devoted first to a review of the usual Arakelov intersection theory on arithmetic surfaces, and then to a discussion of this extended theory and of various applications, involving capacity theory on Riemann surfaces, families of abelian varieties, and modular curves.
