Solving a system of linear equations over a field is a process that we all grew up with. If the equations' coefficients vary as polynomials, and it is desired to find the solutions that vary as polynomials also, then the situation is substantially more complicated, but it has been studied for more than 100 years and much is known.

Suppose now that the system of equations has coefficients in the exterior algebra...

Such considerations have applications in combinatorics, in topology, and in classical algebraic geometry. I will describe some of the rapidly evolving information and applications of the exterior algebra case. The talk is intended for a general mathematical audience.
