Abstract:

In the first part, we begin with the model case of Fourier-Bessel series; we formulate a class of eigenfunction expansions corresponding to a radially symmetric Riemannian metric on a geodesic ball in a Riemannian manifold. Necessary and sufficient conditions are formulated for convergence at a pre-assigned point. In the second part we re-formulate the problem on an arbitrary rank-one symmetric space of the compact type, obtaining related conditions for convergence.
