Abstract:

In recent years the theory of Dirichlet forms has been rapidly developed and has been applied to various areas of Mathematics and Physics, such as infinite dimensional analysis, stochastic dynamics, quantum physics, singular potentials, Markov processes, statistical mechanics, and others. This talk is intended to give an elementary introduction to the theory of Dirichlet forms and describe some of its recent applications to other research areas.
