Title: Lagrangian torus fibrations of Calabi-Yau manifolds and mirror symmetry
Speaker: Professor Wei-Dong Ruan
Speaker Info: UIC
Brief Description:
Special Note:

In 1996 Strominger, Yau and Zaslow proposed a geometric construction of mirror manifold via special Lagrangian torus fibration. According to their program (we will call it SYZ construction), a Calabi-Yau 3-fold should admit a special Lagrangian torus fibration. The mirror manifold can be obtained by dualizing the fibers. We will discuss the construction of Lagrangian torus fibration for Calabi-Yau manifolds via gradient flow approach in relation to the symplectic version of SYZ construction and application to mirror symmetry.
