Abstract:

Madhav Nori will explain to us his definition of mixed motives for subfields of the complex number field. This definition interpolates between V. Voevodsky's definition, which captures the aspect of theories exhibiting functoriality with respect to finite correspondences, and M. Levine's theory, which is universal with respect to the axioms of a Bloch-Ogus cohomology theory.

It is interesting, in particular, how the notion of a motivic fundamental group evolves in this set-up.
