Abstract:

Chow groups, algebraic K-theory and algebraic cobordism are all special examples of Borel-Moore functors on the category of quasi-projective schemes. A different tool in algebraic geometry is given by oriented algebraic theories, which are contravariant functors working on the category of smooth pairs of schemes. The aim of this talk is to describe a bivariant theory which connects Borel-Moore functors of a special type with general algebraic oriented theories. In particular this construction explains for what type of theories we have a Poincare-type duality.
