Abstract:

In his paper "How to calculate homology groups of spaces of nonsingular algebraic projective hypersurfaces in CP^n" (Proc. Steklov Inst. Math. 1999, no. 2 (225), 121-140), V. A. Vassiliev described a method for calculating the cohomology groups of the space of non-singular hypersurfaces of given degree in n-dimensional complex projective space. Successively, Gorinov extended this method in such a way that it can be applied to a wider range of situations. The aim of these talks is to introduce Vassiliev-Gorinov's method and present some examples in which it can be successfully used.
