Abstract:

One of the principle reasons the so called multiple averages in ergodic theory are interesting is their connections to number theory. I will talk about some unsolved problems for these multiple averages. One is about a random average, another is about connections between multiple averages and nonlinear single averages. I believe these questions are very basic, and the fact that they are unsolved just show how fresh, and unexplored this subject is. I will make a genuine effort to make the presentation accessible to y'all.
