Brief Description:
Special Note: Special PDE Seminar
Abstract:
I'll describe a result on the uniqueness and continuous dependence on initial data of weak solutions of the Navier-Stokes equations of compressible flow in two and three space dimensions. The solutions considered include those displaying the generic singularities of the system but typically have small energy. I'll then discuss a program for selecting physically correct solutions from the set of large-energy weak solutions and will give a rigorous result implementing this program in one space dimension.Date: Friday, January 13, 2006
