Title: Finiteness properties for the homotopy groups of certain homotopy fixed point spectra
Speaker: Professor Ethan Devinatz
Speaker Info: University of Washington
Brief Description:
Special Note: This seminar is on Thursday!
Abstract:

In this talk, I will be studying the homotopy groups of the continuous G homotopy fixed point spectrum of the spectrum E_n smashed with a finite complex of type n-1, where G is a closed subgroup of the nth Morava stabilizer group. These groups are usually not of finite type as modules over the p-adics, but I will introduce a notion of "essentially of finite rank" and describe a program to prove that they usually satisfy this property, if the prime p is large compared to n.
