Title: The homological approach to computing algebraic K-theory
Speaker: Professor Robert (Bob) Bruner

Abstract:

The work of McClure-Staffeldt, Bokstedt-Madsen, Rognes, and Ausoni-Rognes has provided good information on the K-theory of S-algebras of low chromatic type. The methods generally involve computations of homotopy with coefficients in complexes whose analogs do not exist for higher chromatic types. To proceed, therefore, Rognes has suggested that we should work in homology. The talk will desccribe this circle of ideas and the progress that has been made by the speaker and Rognes and by Lunoe-Nielsen.
