Abstract:

Mathematics goes far beyond being a fascinating and beautiful subject; it is everywhere. For instance, check your favorite Salvador Dali painting; was it influenced by mathematics? Probably. What about that twisted ring of Saturn; will the explanation come from mathematics? Most surely, and maybe from one of you. Election season is heating up; can mathematics explain all of those voting paradoxes and, even more, show how to gain an advantage in the next Math club, or fraternity, or sorority, or ... meeting? Absolutely! All of this, and more, will be discussed in this expository talk.
