Title: Solving PDE, Green's Function Approach
Speaker: Professor Tai-Ping Liu
Speaker Info: Stanford University
Brief Description:
Special Note: Joint with Department Colloquium
Abstract:

Historically, solving partial differential equations (PDE) was started with the construction of the Green's function. With the ever more powerful functional analytic tools, other methods, such as the energy method, become more standard approach. For more quantitative understanding, the Green's function approach is an important tool. There is this neo-classical revival of the Green's function appraoch. We will begin with the survey of basics and then present the recent developments on viscous conservation laws and the kinetic theory.
