In a series of joint works with F.Merle, we have developed a method to study the global existence and scattering of solutions to nonlinear dispersive and wave equations. In this lecture I will describe the method and some of its applications to non-linear Schrodinger equations, non-linear wave equations, corotational wave maps into the sphere and radial Yang-Mills in 4 dimensions, all in critical spaces.
