Abstract:

Recently Zhiwei Yun proved the fundamental lemma of Jacuqet-Rallis, one important ingredient in their relative trace formula approach to the unitary Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture. A conjectural arithmetic fundamental lemma (AFL) for unitary group was proposed later by the author as a first step towards the arithmetic version of Gan-Gross-Prasad conjecture. The AFL can be reformulated as an identity relating a certain weighted number of lattices and the deformation length of endomorphism of some p-divisivle groups. Some lower dimensional cases were verified earlier. Recently in a joint work with Michael Rapoport, we confirm the conjecture in arbitrary dimension under some restrictive conditions.
