Abstract:

Geodesible flows are those for which it is possible to find a Riemannian metric on the ambient manifold that makes all the orbits geodesics. We will study geodesible flows on closed 3-manifolds, in particular, the existence of periodic orbits: by adding the hypothesis of the existence of an invariant volume, the flow possesses a periodic orbit if the ambient manifold is not a torus bundle over the circle. Moreover, if the manifold is the 3-sphere there is an unknotted periodic orbit.
