Title: The de Rham-Witt Complex
Speaker: Christopher Davis
Speaker Info: University of California, Irvine
Brief Description:
Special Note: The speaker will give an introductory preseminar talk for graduate students 2:00-2:45 pm in 101 Annenberg Hall.
Abstract:

Given an algebra A over a field of characteristic p, one can associate a differential graded algebra called the de Rham-Witt complex over A. In nice cases, one can use this complex to compute crystalline cohomology. The goal of this talk will be to define the de Rham-Witt complex and to explain some of the unusual-looking components of its definition. I will give some examples, such as the de Rham-Witt complex over F_p and F_p[x]. If time permits I will also explain what changes in characteristic zero.
