Abstract:

The subject of arithmetic dynamics is studying number theoretic properties of orbits of rational maps. This can be done over global fields where techniques such as height functions are useful and moreover there are analogies with arithmetic geometry and the theory of elliptic curves. In another context, the theory can also be formulated over valued fields where we get a non-archimedean version of complex dynamics.
