Rachel McEnroe - 'Some Examples in Geometry and Dynamics'

Abstract: I will go through a bunch of examples that I find surprising, which I hope will be surprising to most of you as well. This talk is particularly intended to be accessible to the visiting students.

Yajit Jain - 'Applications of Morse Theory, from the perspective of Milnor'

Abstract: After a (very) brief introduction to Morse theory, we will see key steps in a few major applications, including the Lefschetz hyperplane theorem and Bott periodicity.
