Abstract:

In cryptography, a key exchange protocol is a method by which perfect strangers can agree on a shared secret number using public communications. We describe a framework for constructing an efficient multiparty noninteractive key exchange protocol based on isogenies between elliptic curves. We describe the main barrier to a working protocol; namely, computing a suitable numerical invariant for products of isogenous elliptic curves. No prior knowledge of cryptography is assumed.
