Abstract:

In the general setting of rank one CAT(0) spaces, Ricks has provided necessary and sufficient conditions for uniqueness and mixing of the measure of maximal entropy for the geodesic flow. His work applies to the geodesic flow on flat surfaces with conical singularities of angle greater than 2pi, a class which includes translation surfaces. In this setting, I will discuss recent work establishing uniqueness and completely positive entropy (a property stronger than mixing) for a class of equilibrium states. This is joint work with Dave Constantine, Alena Erchenko, Noelle Sawyer, and Grace Work.
