Analogues of the Atiyah-Singer index theorems will be presented for the Dirac equation on a very general class of globally hyperbolic spacetimes. A particularly strange detail in the proof will be discussed whereby the Hadamard coefficients for the wave equation and the coefficients from the heat kernel expansion are related.
