Abstract:

The $\Phi_2^3$ measure is a probability measure on distributions (fields) in 2 dimensions. It is inspired by similar objects appearing in quantum field theory is also an invariant measure for certain nonlinear partiall differential equations, both stochastic and deterministic. With K. Seong, we give sharp estimates for the partition function of the measure in the large torus limit which imply strong concentration of the field around zero.

In this talk, I will explain the motivation and history of Gibbs measures of the type under consideration, their connection to some classical Inequalities like the Gagliardo-Nirenberg-Sobolev inequality and the associated variational problems, and the difficulties that arise in the case we are considering.

Joint work with K. Seong.
