Title: An Introduction to Topological Graph Theory

Brief Description:
Special Note:
Abstract:
Topological graph theory is the study of embeddings of graphs on surfaces. A presentation of a group gives rise to a graph, called a Cayley graph. This talk will examine some of the properties of Cayley graph embeddings, particularly embeddings that exhibit a high degree of symmetry. We may also explore some of topological graph theory's connections with other fields, especially group theory, topology, and geometry.Date: Monday, November 17, 1997
