Abstract:

Krichever-H\"ohn elliptic genus of a smooth variety $X$ is a function $E(z,\tau)$ whose Fourier coefficients can be expressed in terms of Chern numbers of $X$. Two extensions of this invariant to singular varieties have been developed in a joint preprint with Anatoly Libgober. This talk will be accessible to graduate students with some knowledge of algebraic geometry (canonical class, Chern numbers of vector bundles, blowups with nonsingular centers).
