Let $M$ be a compact simply connected Riemannian manifold that contains a closed geodesic $\gamma$ such that the curvature is constant and strictly negative on a neighbourhood of $\gamma$. It is shown that in this case a global Poincar\'e inequality on the free loop space over $M$ endowed with Bismut measure and the $H^1$ type metric does not hold.Date: Monday, October 02, 2000
