22nd Midwest Probability Colloquium

Title: Harnack inequalities: proofs and applications, I
Speaker: Professor Richard Bass
Speaker Info: University of Connecticut
Brief Description:
Special Note:
Abstract:

These two talks will center around Harnack inequalities: their proofs and applications to analysis and PDE. The applications will include DeGeorgi's conjecture from nonlinear PDE, the boundary behavior of harmonic functions in Euclidean domains, the construction of diffusion on fractals, and the estimation of heat kernel bounds. We will concentrate primarily on those proofs which use probabilistic techniques, such as 1)coupling and 2)estimates on hitting sets.
