I have a student ...@u.northwestern.edu account,
how do I send mail as ...@math.northwestern.edu?

Important: for this instructions to work you need to have already a ...@math.northwestern.edu address in the University (Exchange or Office365) mail system.

Get to your (Gmail) ...@u.northwestern.edu account, select:

Settings > Accounts and Import > Send mail as

Click in "Add another email address." Write your math email address ...@math.northwestern.edu in the space reserved for that purpose and click "Next Step." In the next screen use the following parameters:

SMTP Server:imap.northwestern.edu
Port:587 (if does not work try 465)
Username:(Your NU NetID)
Password:(Your NU password)
Secured connection using: SSL

Click "Add Account", and you will receive a confirmation email.

After that you should be able to select ...@math.northwestern.edu as your outgoing email address.

Note: If the above does not work, try the following (thanks to student Ruoyu Wang):

Account Email Address: xxxxxx@math.northwestern.edu (nominal)
Password:password to the ??????20##@u.northwestern.edu, not to NetID
Type:IMAP
Incoming Server: imap.gmail.com
Port:993
Security:SSL/TSL
Authentication:Normal password
Username:??????20##@u.northwestern.edu (official email address)
Type:SMTP
Incoming Server: smtp.gmail.com
Port:587 (if it does not work try 465)
Security:SSL/TSL
Authentication:Normal password
Username:??????20##@u.northwestern.edu (official email address)
